Engraved silver gilt and rock crystal box

German, early 18th century.

Measures 6 x 4.2 x 3cm.

The box is set with a large rock crystal cabochon, the gilded interior of the box glows through the rock crystal lid when in the light. The sides of the box are engraved with a continual Renaissance frieze with further decoration to the base.

There is a small French duty mark to the front of the base of the box and to the rim of the lid.
