Offered by Galerie Vandermeersch
From the Honoré et Dagoty factory in Paris, circa 1816-1820
A rare, large, flat-topped, Greek-form globular coffee pot, decorated on the body with a hunting trophy, warrior attributes, vases, torch, draperies and leaf motifs standing out against a wide band on a black background surmounted by a frieze of large palmettes surrounded by rinceaux on an orange background. The base is decorated with a frieze of gadroons set against a pale orange background.
The shape of this pourer is inspired by the ancient askos, small vases with side pourers and basket handles, of which there are Apulian and Attic examples of Greek origin.
