Among mighty, gnarled trees, a sandy path winds into the center of the image, which is dominated by a dilapidated house in front of which two figures can be seen. To the left, there is a pond, with a woman in a red skirt feeding geese. The viewer's access to the scene is, as often found in Salomon Rombouts' work, through a branching path, which is often separated and then reunited by low grass growth. The foliage glows silvery in the light, and the sky, dominated by treetops, is almost entirely filled with cumulus clouds. Both the composition itself and the bright red detail in the clothing are typical of the mentioned artist.
