War ships of the coast - Circle of Pieter Brueghel II (1564 - 1637/8)

The present work is based on studies and paintings of ships and marine landscapes by Pieter Brueghel the Elder, which he created during his time in Italy and later published as engravings.

Pieter Brueghel was a Flemish painter known for numerous copies after his father Pieter Brueghel the Elder, as well as original compositons.
As Pieter Breughel the Younger did not always hac eaccess to the original paintings of his father, he would often rely on prints of his father's work to create his derived compositions.
