Important pair of Venetian baroque high-back chairs, richly carved and worked, in walnut
to be compared with the work of the Venetian sculptor Andrea Brustolon (1662-1732).
Brustalon was one of the main sculptors representing Venetian Baroque sculpture.
At the age of 15, he moved to Venice and trained with the Genoese Filippo Pradi.
After a number of trips to study the works of the great masters, he settled permanently in Venice and specialised in the production of wooden furniture.
The great patrons of Venice, who wanted to rival the great artistic schools of Rome and Milan, flocked to his workshop.
He also created a range of furnishings and decorative objects for the Venier family.
His work was renowned beyond the Veneto region, and soon all the great Italian families wanted to own Brustolon furniture.
