Obverse :
COSMVS MED(ices) FLOREN(tiae) ET SENAR(um) DVX II. Bust of Cosimo I to right, bare headed, bearded, wearing armor and cloak; beneath truncation, 1561. 

Reverse :
PVBLICAE COMMODITATI Aequitas standing facing, her head to left, holding scales and cornucopiae; behind her, views of the Palazzo degli Uffizi, the Loggia della Signoria, and the Palazzo Vecchio. 

The building of the Uffizi was ordered by decree in 1560. 

Domenico Poggini (b. 1520; d. 1590) was the younger brother of Giampaolo also  and the son of a gem-cutter, Michele. He was a craftsman of a very accomplished academic style, both as sculptor in bronze and as a medallist. He was also known as a die-cutter, goldsmith, and poet.His medals date between 1552 and 1590. He produced a large group of struck medals for the Medici, besides some cast medals.
