Bronze statue from the early twentieth century, after a sculpture by Eutrope Bouret. Joan of Arc is depicted in thanksgiving (prayer of thanksgiving) wearing a laurel wreath in a fighter's outfit and holding her pointed sword downwards (the hilt symbolizing the Cross). Beautiful Presentation Condition, Original Medal Patina with Light Wear from Wear, Antique Green Marble Base. This version of Joan of Arc expresses a certain realism in her posture and facial expression as well as in the details of her outfit. The height indicated takes into account the marble base.
Eutrope Bouret was born in Paris in 1833, probably influenced by his father, an art bronze fitter, he learned sculpture with Louis Buhot (1815/1865) responding to numerous private or public commissions, his works were often published in bronze. He exhibited at the Salon from 1875 to 1903 with an honourable mention in 1885.
