Delicate ensemble of a Louis the 16th style ewer with matching basin. The covered ewer with blacked wooden handle, is adorned with a beautiful painted scene of two lovers playing hide and seek in a garden. Colorful garlands of flowers with butterflies on the ewer. The ensemble is beautifully decorated with gilded flowers, music instruments umbrellas, volutes, arrows and garlands of flowers and branches. The basin has in its center, an entire poem reading: “Oh, there he is! His heart is moved: I can see it in his eyes. For love, above all things, they are the mirror of the soul. Lover, why delay in proving your flame; It is not this bouquet that will fill the vows.” Great condition. Marked with red stamp “A PARIS”.
