This magnificent pair of Venice Views represents a significant example of the most refined Venetian pictorial tradition of 18 th century.
Tempera paintings, often on paper and rarely on canvas, were a typical production of the Venetian Masters in the golden period of Venetian art, where the greatest interpreter was undoubtedly Giacomo Guardi, son of the famous Francesco.
The two splendid views published here should be considered a true rarity, not only for the extraordinary pictorial quality, but also for the large dimensions of the canvases.
The countless views of Guardi and the Masters of his entourage were in fact always small in size and immortalized the main wonders of the city with a quick painting with the features of a sketch.
In this case both views offer a complex image, wide-ranging and rich in details executed with a hand with a refined technique,
The works are in excellent condition despite the normal wrinkles of time and are still on first canvas
