A French Directoire mantel clock

This bronze ormolu and patinated pendulum symbolises love. On top is a cupid with arrow and quiver, at his feet a torch, symbol of eternally burning love and a dog, symbol of fidelity. This top is supported by caryatids. Below the clock is a refined decoration of grapes and flower vines, incorporating two griffins facing each other. The griffin is the symbol of the divine.
