Large bronze (height: 0.63m), with medal patina representing Aphrodite, goddess of Love, crouching.
An exaltation of the taste for movement and torsion, this work is a revival of the theme of the nude Venus , or Aphrodite , known since Antiquity. The subject belongs to the Hellenistic period, when the female body was voluptuously depicted in various attitudes.
This antique model was the subject of numerous replicas, the most famous of which is by Antoine COYSEVOX (Louvre).
