A French Directoire mantel clock

An ormolu and patinated bronze mantle clock with ornaments referring to the mythological hero Hercules.
The sides depict Hercules mace and lion skin. In the corners Hercules face.
Around the dial a decoration of oak leaves and acorns. The strong wood of an oak represents protection and wisdom.
Standing on a pedestal decorated with Ceberus, the three-beademd helhond and a wooden mace and torch of Hercules.
The pendule is crowned with a vase topped by an eagle.
