A painted wooden mummy sarcophagus fragment.
Egyptian, Late Dynastic period, ca. 712 to 332 BCE.
Measures 23 x 16 x 3cm.
Brightly painted on a thin layer of gesso with natural pigments. The fragment is painted with the kneeling the goddess Isis with wings outstretched and a sun disk upon her head.
Later mounted on a bronze display stand.
Ex private English collection formed in the early 20th century.
