Rare mahogany and mahogany veneer buffet or chest of drawers with doors. Inverted half-moon shape with hollow sides, it opens with a large drawer in the waist and a cupboard with two doors. It is richly decorated with chased and mercury-gilded bronzes (frames with rows of pearls, asparagus in the fluting, rosettes in the connecting dice, key escutcheons). A luxury piece of furniture, it is topped with a rare Brocatelle marble from Spain, which makes all the difference with a piece of furniture of common quality. Mounted on an oak frame, the cupboards are also molded inside and veneered in mahogany. Late 18th or circa 1800, in the Directoire style.
A fine piece of high quality, highly original amateur furniture.
In very good overall condition, marble intact, well-preserved mercury gilding with some light wear, blond Cuban mahogany veneer evenly distributed over the entire surface, with some light marbling. The pad varnish has been repolished by our cabinetmaker.
