Because of their large oval bodies and narrow cylindrical necks, these types of vases are traditionally called "amphoras" and are said to be based on the ancient Greek jar with essentially the same outlines. These Western-shaped amphora have Chinoiserie style and they have the Chinese characteristic of the high, curved handles with dragon's head. Both vases are decorated on the front with an image of Cupid and Venus.
