A painting of rare beauty that portrays two children sitting dressed in elegant clothes. The older girl one is holding a cage with a little bird inside and seems to scold the smaller one by raising his hand and showing his index finger.
The remarkable portraiture ability of the author is evident and stands out not only for the precision in the rendering of the faces, but also for the perfect description of the clothes and accessories worn by the protagonists.
The glimpse of the landscape in the background of the canvas is particularly pleasant, offering the scene an excellent shot of light and a more accentuated volumetric effect.
It is easy to compare this very pleasant work with the very fine portraits of the French master Pierre Mignard known as "le romain" following his long experience in the capital and to distinguish him from his brother Nicolas.
