Complete details of the work: https://www.antichitacastelbarco.it/it/prodotto/pesaggista-romano-del-settecento

The painting has characters clearly linked to the Roman landscape tradition of the eighteenth century and, in particular, to the works of Paolo Anesi (Rome 1697 - 1773), one of the most appreciated artists by travelers on the Grand Tour, especially English, as well as being in great demand for enrich the already important Capitoline collections.

His stylistic imprint brilliantly combines the optical clarity of Van Wittel and Lint, with the tradition of the ideal landscape made famous by Van Bloemen. In Anesi, however, there is a 'romantic' sensibility, strengthened by a particular attention to luministic values, contiguous to the examples of Venetian landscape art disclosed by Marco Ricci and Francesco Zuccarelli.

The ruins of a Roman arch contribute to identifying the territory in which we find ourselves, evoking the idea of ??the landscape that surrounds the city of Rome, and the course of the Tiber that marks the balanced overlapping of the perspective planes, which can be traveled by eye through the course of the river itself.

The effect has a pleasant scenic impact, not only for the accuracy with which the landscape is described, but also for the skilful harmony of the chromatic and luministic counterpoints.

The scenography, while respectful of reality, betrays a fantasy for atmospheric values ??capable of transfiguring the view, reproducing the atmospheric sensitivity of the air imbued with light, evoking a delicate Arcadian emotionality.

The painting is in excellent condition, perfectly restored, accompanied by a pleasant golden frame.

The work, like all our objects, is sold with a certificate of photographic authenticity in accordance with the law.
