A rare gold and enamel memento mori ring.
English, early 17th century.
Ring size M UK / 6.25 US (measured on the leading edge).
The exterior of the D-shaped band is deeply engraved with repeating diamond decoration and the front of the bezel is set with an enamelled skull.
The interior is engraved with the words ‘A Blessed are the dead which dye in ye lord’, a quote from Revelation 14:13.
