A threequarter relief sculpture of Saint John the Baptist in His camelhair coat. Great details: the head of the camel (almost like a memento mori skull) dangling at the bottom of his coat and a truly charming lamb with woolly curls, that looks like a mixture of a pig and a lamb. Banner and cross behind the lamb. Right leg completely detached from the shell-shaped niche He is standing in. Good size (59cm). Limewood, Germany end of 16th century (1580-1600). Wear but overall good condition.
Dimensions: 59x27x11cm
