European Works of Art from the Middle Ages to the XVIIIth century
Beautiful Baroque sculpture in the round of a lion seated on its hind legs and holding a shield with its front legs, its head turned to its right.
Sculpted in oak wood, the figure is particularly striking for the expressive power of its head, with highly detailed facial features and magnificently executed high-relief curls of hair.
Flemish, XVIIth century.
D: 43 x 16 x 13 cm
In good condition, a visible break on the upper part of the shield.
Further photos on demand.
