Giovanni Fattori is one of the main exponents of the Tuscan Macchiaioli movement. Although he adheres to the current, however, the artist's research maintains a personal vision. In his works, in fact, a sense of transcendence is also legible in addition to the realism of Macchiaioli painting. In his life experience, Fattori moved closer to Risorgimento ideals, although he was impressed by the bloody side of the Italian wars of independence. He took refuge in the sunny land of Maremma, amidst silent, suspended landscapes, while his fame grew even among his contemporaries Giovanni Fattori died in 1908.
