Cardboard Maker's Clock By Etienne Lenoir, Louis XVI Period

Cardboard clock in finely chiseled and gilded bronze. It rests on a rectangular base, decorated with foliage on which the movement is fixed, framed on either side by scrolls of acanthus.

The bezel is surrounded by a pearl and at the cushioning, foliage ends in a flower bud.

Originally, this clock rested on a veneer base and was located on top of a Louis XVI cardboard box.

The white enameled dial is signed by "Etienne Lenoir", master watchmaker in Paris, based on Quai des Orfèvres.

The original movement strikes the hours and half-hours as it passes. Wire suspension.

Parisian work from the end of the 18th century.
