Rare pair of white and blue opaline bottles. They are baluster-shaped and topped with their flattened round caps. It is a work of opal crystal engraved with hydrofluoric acid. This process was perfected by the chemist Jacques Louis Kessler in 1855. Thereafter he improved the chemical formula of the bath in order to make it less aggressive and less dangerous. Baccarat bought the patent from him in 1864, thus allowing the crystal factory to diversify its production and reach a new level of virtuosity. The productions of the crystal factory by this process lasted from 1862 to 1867. They are decorated with stylized flowers in "ultramarine blue" color on a "milky" white background. Height: 21 cm
