Works of art, silver, glass and furniture from 16th to 18th century
Venice, late 17th century
With its frame: 46.5 x 66.5 cm
The lacquered and gilded panel has slight reliefs for the decorations, the turkish figures and the peacocks in the foreground.
The monumental vases are inspired by an engraved model by Jean Lepautre from his series of "Vases à la moderne" published in 1659 (Maxime Préaud, Inventaire du fonds français, graveurs du XVIIe siècle. Tome 12. Deuxième partie, Jean Lepautre, Paris 1999, p.273, n°1969) or rather the reversed version (handle on the left as on the panel) by Susana Maria Von Sandrart published in 1678.
