Hippolyte Pierre DELANOY (1849-1899)

nineteenth century. French artist.
Painter of history, genre scenes, portraits, interiors, landscapes, still lifes, flowers and fruit/pastellist.

Son of painter Jacques Delanoy, he was a student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 1865-1866, then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, working under F. Barrias, Bonnat and Vollon.
He exhibited in Lyon between 1863 and 1887, and in Paris between 1868 and 1899. In his still lifes, he excelled at making armor and swords shine.
