A polychrome wooden sculpture of Saint Longinus. Probably made in Flanders (Mechelen?) and painted in Spain (Hispano/Flamenco).
The Holy Lance (or “Longinus Spear”) is one of the relics of the Passion of Christ. It is believed to be the weapon that pierced the right side of Jesus during his crucifixion.
