The small altarpieces were in principle made for private devotion. More rarely, it was a model presented to a patron as a proposal to create a monumental work.
Our miniature altarpiece is made of carved wood. It is embellished with four Corinthian columns, heads of angels, various decorations and four niches receiving Saint characters.
On the altar is a tabernacle whose door turns and allows to release a small cavity. Above, logically in the center piece, sits Saint Joseph, carrying the Child.
With marble decorations, it is very nicely polychromed and gilded. It is an Italian work, of precision, of the 18th century.
Dimensions of 78 cm high by 53 cm wide and 17 deep.
Good condition - some lacks.
