Dressing table with diamond marquetry and Chinese scene marquetry
In mahogany and various veneers circa 1880
Richly embellished with ormolu (all bronzes are screwed)
It opens with three drawers in front and three flaps revealing a mirror in the center.
The side shelves unfold and the central drawer opens with a push-button.
It stands on four sheathed feet ending in bronze sabots.

Attributed to the Maison Beurdeley, one of the most important dynasties of furniture makers in the 19th century (1818-1895), particularly appreciated for the quality of their bronze mounts and the choice of precious materials for the ornamentation of their furnishings. Directly inspired by a model by cabinetmaker Jean-Henri Riesener, executed in 1784 for the interior cabinet of Marie-Antoinette's small Tuileries apartment, and now in the Louvre Museum.
