The central area of this window is carved in openwork. Of medieval inspiration, it is suggestive for the originality, for the essentiality and the balance of the composition. Windows of this type were designed to give light and air to passageways, such as entrance halls, corridors or stairways. They can be considered the ancestors of the "mandorlati",the terracotta fretworks typical of northern Italian architecture.
