Important Prie-Dieu, mostly in walnut and richly decorated. It is indeed of imposing dimensions with its 210 cm high by 65 wide and 59 deep and undoubtedly, given its size, it was in an oratory or a private chapel.
It is crowned by an elegant capital on which is sculpted the Holy Trinity, represented by a radiating delta. The Holy Trinity, celestial by definition, dominates the world and its position is therefore always at the summit. Just below, in a central cartouche at the height of a man, surrounded by two protective angels, is a representation, nicely carved, like the whole of this work, of Christ on the Cross.
He is represented here alone, in a garden. From the sweetness of this representation, one could almost forget the unbearable physical pain of His sacrifice. On the desk is engraved the crown of Christ.
Finally, on the lower part, closer to the terrestrial world, are two doors carved with the two apostle martyrs to whom Christianity owes so much, Saint Peter and Saint Paul, of course.
The cheeks of this piece of furniture are also richly decorated.
A very beautiful piece of good performance but which the centuries have not spared. Lacks, cracks, summary reinforcement, absence of keys for our two locks, wormholes, these evils are diverse.
