BAIL Franck Antoine

Genre painter, portraits, interiors, still lifes, lithographer.
A pupil of his father Antoine Jean Bail, a painter from the Lyon region, he, like his brother Joseph Bail, promised a great future as a painter and was admitted to the painting classes of the master Jean Léon Gérôme and Carolus Duran.
From 1878, he was a regular participant in the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, where he won medals in 1889, 1900 and 1904. He represented France at the
in San Francisco in 1910.
He was awarded the Légion d'honneur in 1920. He divided his time between his studio on Boulevard Rochechouart in Paris, the Quai de Bourbon and the forez villages of his childhood.
He was one of the leading figures of the French Naturalist movement. His works can be seen in the Louvre, Besançon, Remiremont and Doullens museums.
Our work was probably painted in the Hospices de Beaune.
