Late 18th, early 19th century French furniture and objets d'art
Rare writing desk in mahogany veneer, elm burr veneer, ebony fillets, gilded bronzes, brass and pewter inlays.
The bronzes have kept all their original gilding with mercury, which has simply been cleaned; the woods are cleaned and varnished with a buffer. Antique mirror very slightly pitted. The interior contains two silver plated inkwells.
This object is attributed to the cabinetmaker Jean-Joseph Chapuis ( 1765-1864 )
