Allegories of Water and Earth in marble, circa 1600

Beautiful and rare pair of finely carved marble reliefs depicting 'Terra' and 'Aqua', both allegorical compositions after prints made by Hendrick Goltzius in 1586.
Possibly Netherlands, c.1600.

Dimensions: 14,5 x 11,5 cm
Presented in a modern wooden frame.
Condition: Small repairs in 2 corners of 'Terra', otherwise in good condition, 'Water' being intact.

Provenance: one of them bears on the back an old Christie's label of an unidentified sale. Art market.
