Wrought iron and brass door
executed by Carlos Y Manuel Tolosa in 1935
The forge in its splendour
Creative blacksmithing in the 20th century in Aragon, and indeed in the whole of Spain, gives the impression of being centred on very few names, perhaps because it is linked to commerce without a fully artistic idea.
But there are two, Carlos the blacksmith and Manuel, his son, also a born blacksmith but a sculptor using his technique, his craft, for creation, who mark a category of national importance.
But before we begin with the different characteristics, it is worth remembering that Carlos Tolosa Pobo, born in Monreal de Campo in 1870, lived in Zaragoza since 1878 and died there in 1941, while his son Manuel Tolosa Sabado has always been linked to Zaragoza, since he was born there in 1894 and died there on 30 December 1976.
A family of blacksmiths whose ancestors, one of whom was also a blacksmith, came from Teruel.
