An engraved and chip carved boxwood flask and box.
French, dated 1723.
Measures 11 x 7 x 4cm.
The body is extensively decorated with engraved flowers and repeating chip carved patterns. One side bears the image of an altar, upon which sits a lectern flanked by flowers and to the other side the letters ‘IHS’ with a cross and the sacred heart pierced by the three nails of Christ.
