Furniture and art objects from the 17th, 18th and early 19th
Pair of richly decorated and finely chiseled candelabras from the Empire period.
Based on a model by Thomire, they represent Apollo and Diana the Huntress resting on a sphere mounted on a swollen base and a quadrangular terrace. The whole is decorated with a leafy rose window, gadroons, palmettes, flutes and acanthus leaves. Diana is presented, wearing a crescent moon, holding her bow in one hand and carrying her quiver and arrows on her back. With the other hand, she holds a cornucopia from which springs a bouquet of light with five lights richly decorated with scrolls, foliage, flowers and berries. In the pendant, Apollo, a stick in one hand and the cornucopia in the other.
Parisian work of the early nineteenth century executed after a model of Thomire in its patina and gilding of origin.
