Visible lack on the right edge, otherwise excellent condition. Suspension hoop on the back.

The composition of the scene derives from the drawing that Rubens used for his few representations of the theme. Mention should be made of the version he made in 1611 for the Cathedral of Our Lady of Antwerp (cf ill.). The artist of our plaque added a landscape background to the scene, and he framed the whole with a rich oval molded border adorned with plant foliage.
