This architectural element stuck out under the roof in order to support it. Spain, probably Burgos area 12-13th century. The bird (or maybe a basilisk) holds a circular object, far too big for its beak. Possibly a metaphor for 'Do not take in your mouth what you cannot swallow'? On a custom made stand. Dimensions (without stand): 25x19x14cm.
