An oak misericord carving of a lion.
English, 15th century.
Measures 51 x 15 x 10cm.
Two large roses flank the boldly carved lions head which is carved with large ears and tongue playfully poking out.
Similar 15th century examples can be found in Churches in the North of England, pictured are examples from Hexham Abbey, Carlisle Cathedral and York Minster.
