Painter of mythological compositions, genre scenes, interiors, church interiors, gouache painter, watercolourists, draftsman.
He was a pupil of Mérimée and Prud'hon. He appeared at the Paris Salon from 1791 to 1824, obtaining a second class medal in 1812, a first class medal in 1817. He painted in the graceful genre and was one of the triumphants of "Empire genre" painting.
